Speech therapists evaluate and treat all forms of communication, including understanding what others are saying, recalling and using vocabulary, forming sentences, grammar, pronouncing words, speaking fluently (without stuttering), reading and writing, and using language socially and effectively with peers and adults. We provide non-verbal children with augmentative communication devices and teach them how to use them in order to communicate their basic daily needs. We also provide feeding therapy for children with difficulties chewing and swallowing or who are refusing food. PVSL&L is bilingual (Spanish).

She is board-certified and licensed in the State of Florida. Her passion is helping kids reach their goals in a fun and creative environment. She is enthusiastic to build bonds with families to help them achieve success for their children at home, in school, and where ever their life journey takes them to create a better future starting TODAY! Sonya has been working with children of all ages and abilities for over twenty years. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Math and Spanish from Vanderbilt University and two Master’s degrees: in Communication Disorders from the University of Alabama and in the Art of Teaching from Seattle Pacific. She is accredited by the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association and also holds a Florida teaching certificate with endorsements in Speech Impaired, Math, and Spanish. She graduated with a BA in speech pathology and audiology from Iona College in New York.
